Why I love Cindy

It's not just because she links to my blog, and it's not just because I am convinced that if we lived in the same neighborhood we would be great buddies.

It is because of her, that Danny gets to wear this:

Suh-weet.

And also, I am now convinced that Jake is playing mind games with me about school. We had a major debacle last week and he had been as good as gold ever since. He had three perfect days there, and then this morning the big tear filled eyes came out at drop off time. Now that I know he is capable of what they are asking, I am a lot less sympathetic. Plus, they are playing soccer today. I know that he is going to love it. Regardless, I am not at all looking forward to pick up today.

Tomorrow is not going to be any better for him either. He's got a 10:15 for his immunizations. Now that is going to be a fun time. I'm glad the kid only weighs 38 pounds soaking wet, because I've got a feeling we are going to have a Mommy vs. Jake wrestling match tomorrow.

Wish me luck.

Why is he doing this to me?

So at the ripe old age of 2, Daniel has decided he no longer needs to nap. I have decided that he still does. Irregardless of whether he wants to sleep or not, he goes into the bedroom. He plays and plays, and finally wears me down enough to let him out without a nap. Then, what we have a few hours later, is this:

Since we made the bright move of putting him into the bottom bunk in Jake's room, it has turned into a night time shit show. It is taking them a good hour to get to sleep, and they can't even be nice about it and compensate by sleeping in. Nope, still up bright and early.

Bedtime is at 7:30, or 7 on a school night. Considering that their bedroom is a teeny version of Toy's R Us, I am not that surprised. Daniel can not stay in bed and Jacob can't stop tattling on Daniel for getting out of bed. Then the spitting game begins. And then they get to see Mommy's mad face. Finally, after lots of yelling and crying (the yelling on my part, the crying on theirs) and them pulling out all the stops (I'm scared, I want to sleep in your bed, it's too bright, it's too dark, I lost my stuffies, ba ba BA BA) quiet envelopes the house. Thank freakin' gawd.

No Nap + Compromised night Sleep + Super Freezing Outside Temperatures = Loss of Mommy's Sanity

9 more sleeps until the Dominican Republic. Get me the eff outta here.

Somebody make him stop.

So Daniel peed on the potty twice last night. He stayed dry from 5:00 until he went to bed at 7:30. I really haven't been pushing him to use the potty because we are going on holidays next month (holy crap, in three weeks actually) so I thought it might be better to wait until we get home.

Daniel obviously has other plans. I've heard some scary stories about missing windows of opportunity, so we are heading out this morning to by some underwear and pull ups. I am still not pushing, but I can't force the kid to pee in diapers either.

Jake was trained at 27 months, so I thought I had a little while yet. Why is it the youngest ones always try to grow up the fastest??

Seriously, who does this?

Guess what time I was woken up this morning?? At 5:45 a.m., by the sound of Jake opening the door to get the newspaper. Yes, he has to read the newspaper in the morning. Why? For the weather, and the scores.

He has managed to teach himself how to read almost every team name in the NHL. And in his four year old mind, knowing who won last night, and who is playing tomorrow night are very important things.

In my much older mind, laying in bed and getting some much needed sleep is also a very important thing.
